I wouldn't have thought that the auto-focus would be so hard in low light condition. I wonder if it's dependent of the lens (I know it's depedant of the max aperture, but is the motor important? I think it is I remember I read something about that...) This is not a photo from yesterday, but I wanted to post it because I liked it, the high iso makes noise, but I think It comes out well with the aproximative manual focus and the blurry trees (trees moves when there's wind). I have taken some photos yesterday, some nice, but I wanted this one, so I can ask also some advices about night sky photography. It seems it works better when there's a nearly full moon, because the first try I made was a total mess, but I don't remember about the moon at the time. Any advices? on the photo, in general?
Les nuages étirés de ce grand ciel de nuit donnent effectivement le sentiment qu'il vente fort. Les étoiles sont extrêmement présentes et retiennent l'attention dès l'abord.

@Jenny: Thanks, happy new year too. Don't worry about your comments, I must admit mine are also few at the time. I'm really busy and don't have as much time as I would like.
auto focus is a pain in these shots - check out Tim's site. He may have some tips for you for star photography. I've tried myself and have a hard time focusing. I think one technique is to bring a flashlight and shine the beam on a far surface and then autofocus on that, then switch to manual focus. I think you want it near infinity but not all the way.
colors are nice in this one

@Jason Kravitz: Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll buy a good flashlight and cary it with me then ^^. For this shoot I was on manual focus and as you said near infinity (for the stars) but not all the way (for the trees).
Great colors.
