Some (shy, so I won't tell his name) guy, told me he wanted to see that school again. The only thing that can make it look like a school is the flag (I don't know how it works everywhere else, but in France, there are flags on public buildings). About this photo, there's something that prevent it to be as good as it could be, but I can't find what, any ideas?
Nice b&w image :) of couse I liked first one School pic too :)

I like this one. Can you post a bigger (800px wide) version? Is that the natural vignetting from the 5d?

@Damon Schreiber: Yes it's the natural vigneting of my lens... It shows in high aperture (as it's frequent). And the fact that the 5D is full frame makes it obvious as you use the entire lens and not only the center. But I like this effect... even if it's usually marked as a flaw of the lens.
I like this shot and I like the angle. I think having a little more sky in the image, a little more head room, may have made it a bit better. Otherwise, I think its a good shot.

@Dysren: ^^ fun I wanted less sky but didn't know how to do it. But I'm taking notes... for future photos.
Très beau. J'aime le mystère que dégage cette photo.

The framing looks good. The vignette is a matter of taste. I don't care for it, but it's your photo. When shooting with a large aperture (F/2.8) the depth of field is limited, so a solid focal point is needed. The sharpest focus in this image appears to be the corner of the building. Your narrative indicates that the flag is key to the shot's message. If that's the case, I would recommend making that the focal point. It looks as though you were shooting in low light conditions (ISO 1600), which may have driven you to an open aperture. I would reshoot with a good tripod, a cable remote, a tighter aperature, and a highter ISO. This would capture a bit of movement in the flag (weather permitting) drawing the viewer to a focal point, while preserving the overall frame. Keep it up. You have a good eye.

@Matt Trujillo Photography: O_O.... I didn't think about all those things. About my narrative.. I made it after posting... I was thinking: "Hey but how can someone guess it's a school?" so I tried to explain... but now I think it's not an accurate explaination, because many other buildings have the flag (town halls for example). About the tripod, I gave an explanation in the Domus dei post of 2006-11-19. And it's asking for money... I don't have neither a good (means not the one I have, and also means a more expensive one) and easy to take tripod, nor the cable remote (less expensive I think. For the moment I'm more thinking about saving for a good telezoom (Because I think I'm lacking one for sport, festival, animals or the likes). But I'm keeping all your advices in head especially the one about focus which I'll be able to practice sooner than the tripod one. thank you.
Whoops... by "highter ISO." I meant LOWER ISO. Must have been the coffee typing...Cheers.

Great B&W. I wouldn't do anything to it. Good job!
